ADULT ACTING COURSES IN ENGLISH

GEST is delighted to offer Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced Acting Courses for adults 17 +.

Beginners Course

An exciting opportunity to learn and develop basic acting skills including improvisation, character work and general acting techniques in a friendly and supportive environment. This course is suitable for drama beginners and those who want to practice using English in a new and creative way.

MONDAY GROUP (FULL. You can still sign up for the waitlist).

Date: 17 Feb - 27 April  (10 sessions).

Time: Mondays at 17.30 - 19.00 .

Fee: 2100 SEK (regular), 1900 SEK (student).

TUESDAY GROUP

Dates:18 Feb - 28 April  (10 sessions).

Time:  Tuesdays at 17.30 - 19.00.

Fee: 2100 SEK (regular), 1900 SEK (student).

Intermediate and Advanced Courses

For participants with some acting experience we offer two Intermediate courses. The two courses have the same difficulty level and are similar in content, the only difference lies in how much work participants need to put in outisde of class. Both courses runs over nine sessions and one weekend at the end of term where we will do a tech run, dress rehearsal and performance at a professional theatre stage.

INTERMEDIATE GROUP

This course is suitable for those who have a little theatre experience and wish to develop their acting skills further. The course will culminate in a shorter live performance in front of family and friends where you will perform shorter scenes and/or monologues.

Date: Wednesdays 19 Feb - 27 April, Weekend 26 - 27 April

Time: 17:30 - 19:30

Fee: 2300 SEK (regular), 2100 SEK (student).

Course leader: Kristina Brändén Whitaker, professional actress, Director and GEST's co-Artistic Director.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED GROUP

This course is suitable for those who wish to put in more work to further develop their acting skills. In this course, we expect participants to practice outside of rehearsals to learn their lines. The course will culminate in a live performance in front of family and friends.

 

Date: Mondays 17 Feb - 27 April, Weekend 26 - 27 April

Time: 19:15 - 21:15

Fee: 2300 SEK (regular), 2100 SEK (student).

Course leader: James Hogg, professional actor as well as acting and drama tutor.

COURSE LEADERS

Kristina Branden Whitaker.jpg

Kristina Brändén Whitaker

Kristina is GEST's Executive Artistic Director, a director and an actress with extensive experience in theatre, television and film both in Sweden and internationally. Kristina trained as an actress at the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She has worked as an actress in various theatres in both the UK and Sweden. She has acted in many of GESTs productions: Four minutes Twelve Seconds, The Events, Belongings, My Romantic History, Cock, Expectations, Contractions, After The End and After Miss Julie.

 

James Hogg

James trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

He has been working for ten years, including work in London's West End

(The Misanthrope) and with the National Theatre (A Midsummer Night's Dream). Since moving to Gothenburg, James has been working extensively as a voice over artist, including work for the Discovery Channel (Unti I Besunti, Blue Collar Criminals) and for various computer games (Vermintide, War of the Vikings).
