BELONGINGS
Performed
13 March - 12 April 2014
GEST presents the Scandinavian premiere of Belongings by the young female award-winning playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm.
Belongings is an explosive yet tender and witty play about four individuals desperately defending the choices they've made, whilst struggling to find a place to belong.
A young female soldier returns from Afghanistan to a home she no longer recognises or connects with. From the deserts of a modern war to the battleground of a family kitchen, she navigates family politics, old relationships, and the memory of betrayal.
"The atmosphere on stage is always tight and charged...Gary Whitaker's directing is finely tuned throughout...Zahra Ahmadi is a thoroughly compelling and vivid Deb" Göteborgs-Posten (Click the link to read the full review in Swedish)
"We already know that GEST discover well-written texts with stylish twists and that they are masters at performing them. Belongings is no exception...A performance of several skillful levels...Layers presented with care and fingertip sensitivity in both text and play."
"With effective staging and sterling performances, GEST make Belongings a direct hit. Nummer's Liv Landell Major notes that Gothenburg's anglophile theater audiences have a reliable supplier of high octane, contemporary theatre" Nummer.se
