ABOUT GEST
GEST - Gothenburg English Studio Theatre is an award-winning English language theatre in Gothenburg, Sweden and is the only professional English language theatre in western Sweden.
GEST was founded in 2005 by Kristina Brändén Whitaker and Gary Whitaker to provide quality, contemporary and award-winning theatre in English.
GEST works with professional actors and directors from Britain and Sweden and aims to produce theatre of the highest standard, which is accessible to everyone. As well as performing in Sweden at our two stages, GEST also performs internationally and is always keen to collaborate with theatres abroad. We also collaborate closely with schools, colleges and universities, offering specially reduced student prices, workshops and after-show discussions with the actors (see our Creative Learning page for more info).
Gothenburg has a large English-speaking population and is home to a variety of nationalities with English as a second language. GEST also seeks to cater for these people, who may long for an enjoyable night at the theatre.
At present nearly all the great English language plays performed in Gothenburg are translated into Swedish. GEST is proud to perform plays in their original language.
GEST is a non-profit organisation, with all proceeds going to keeping GEST running.
"It's almost too good to be true that we have a professional British theatre group in Gothenburg, producing contemporary British theatre to the highest standard...with the precision in directing and acting that marks out the best of London theatres" - GT
