DIBLIK RABIA LEON - TECHNICIAN & SET DESIGNER

Diblik is a freelance scenographer and lighting designer who studied in Mexico City for a degree in Scenography and finished her academic training with a Master's and PhD in Visual Arts, both from the Complutense University of Madrid. During more than 20 years of professional experience, she has collaborated in various companies and productions both in Mexico and internationally, mainly as a lighting designer, scenographer, and executive producer. In Sweden she has worked on different theatre projects with independent companies, artists and museums, among them Världskulturmuseet in Gothenburg, Vera Berzak Teatersällskap, CRAFT Takuya Fujisawa, Eñe Teatro, Martin Bröns, Clara Diesen.

In recent years, she has ventured into areas such as film, video art, and visual arts, doing art design, art direction, and production design. She has also taught lighting design and scenography in the performing arts at the university level. Her work as a designer has a versatility that has allowed her to experiment with unusual materials - such as salt, acrylic mirrors, steel cables and recycled materials - that have directed and determined the aesthetics of her current work. One of her great interests, developed in parallel with design, is research.

In 2020 she was supported by Bertil och Britt Svenssons Stiftelse för Belysningsteknik, Göteborg Stad, Skogen and Folkuniversitet for an immersive lighting children's theatre project called Jakten på Norrskenet. Diblik currently works as a technician for GEST.
