FLY ME TO

THE MOON

Performed

7 November – 7 December 2012

GEST presents the Scandinavian premiere of Fly Me To The Moon. A hilarious new black comedy from the award-winning playwright Marie Jones, who also wrote Stones in His Pockets that GEST had a huge success with in 2009.

I dream about money Francis, do you? …Maybe people like us aren’t meant to have that kind of money.

Davy Magee, 84, leads a lonely life whose only regular company are care workers Loretta and Francis. When he unexpectedly dies one day leaving an unclaimed pension the carers find themselves facing a moral dilemma.

We clean up piss and shit for 6 quid an hour. They owe us that money.

With few opportunities and unemployed husbands the women make decisions which escalate events beyond their control.

"A dark farce that makes you feel good...GEST is welcomed and is becoming an important reference point among the city theatre stages " Göteborgs-Posten (Click the link to read the full review in Swedish)

"Gothenburg's only English-language theater company is becoming a small cultural institution...Fly me to the Moon is a humorous packed social critique and also a feel-good piece...To put it shortly GEST has done it again."  Expressen
