For nine months I had been preparing for the biggest journey of my life. I had been waiting expectantly...
My suitcase was packed and I was ready. But we never could have prepared ourselves for the destination or the arrival.
Based on the author’s own experience, Expectations is an honest, moving, hard-hitting and often funny play. Two couples - one English, one Swedish - both prepare for the birth of their child but things don't turn out the way they had imagined. The play follows their different paths and in the end, all four are brought together. There are choices to be made, fears and secrets to share.
“Everything GEST portrays is with such power and care...a play that is able to surprise by being deeply sad but at the same time very entertaining. The performance is formidably well played” Göteborgs-Posten (Click the link to read the full review in Swedish)
★★★★★ "This play is heart-breaking and heart-warming, powerful and poignant, morally-challenging and morally-uplifting...when the play is over, you feel privileged to have seen it. It really is that good."
★★★★ "Brims with insight, humanity and humour" Whats On Stage
"A real Gem of a play...written with honesty, elegance and wit throughout" Public Reviews
